Abstract:

A number of etiologies and comorbid conditions are frequently identified in epilepsy in children. Diagnosis, clinical evaluation, and choice of treatment depend upon the proper identification of these coexisting neurologic and psychiatric disorders. This symposium will focus on behavioral and psychiatric comorbidities. ADHD, mood disorders, psychoses, autism, and mental retardation are frequently seen in clinical practice. Data on the epidemiology of these disorders are incomplete and just beginning to be compiled. This presentation will review our knowledge about these complications of epilepsy.
