Abstract:

Parents report high rates of behavioral problems in children with epilepsy. Both the epilepsy and the behavioral problems can have an impact on the family. This presentation will begin with a description of the most common behavioral problems reported by parents of these young patients. In addition, it will present findings from recent research that explores the family's response to new-onset seizures and the relationship between family factors and behavioral problems in children and adolescents with chronic epilepsy.
